Nadja è un inclassificabile (shoegaze doom ambient drone) side project che dal 2002 si nasconde dietro agli occhi azzurri del polistrumentista canadese Aidan Baker, giocando a prosciugargli l'anima a partire dal nome (aidaN - Nadja).  Creatura insaziabile di una vanità che non sfocia mai nella presunzione, Nadja cresce nella cattività di uno studio, dove pur nell'inevitabile diatesi collaterale delle influenze familiari (Swans, Godflesh, Jesu) impara a misurarne le distanze, forgiandosi di sonorità uniche e pretendendo un'attenzione da parte dell'artefice oltre il limite umano, materilizzata in una fecondissima produzione incrementata da numerosissime collaborazioni. Narcisismo che successivamente troverà sfogo anche grazie all'entrata di Leah Buckareff al basso, determinate per l'inaugurazione di una serie di live, in gran parte in America. I Nadja fanno doom della biosfera. Lenti e melmosi ma due metri sopra il cielo. L’approccio è radicalmente opposto a quello di Plotkin e O’Malley, Se i Khanate affondano le unghia e le ossa nel sotterraneo, i Nadja si innalzano nell’etere e premono dall’alto. In pratica quello che Justin K. Broederick ha cercato di fare con gli Jesu riuscendoci solo in parte.
